Social responsibility

EVN is well aware of its responsibilities to a diversity of stakeholder groups and in this context goes beyond its core operative business activities to launch numerous initiatives aimed at enhancing the quality of life of the people living in its supply area.
Traditionally, the furtherance of children and young people forms a focal point of EVN’s endeavours relating to the fulfilment of its social responsibilities. Finance is employed in the most targeted manner possible and the Social Fund founded at the end of September 2008 will provide further consolidation of this approach.

Young, cool and clean

For schools and kindergartens there are special services consisting of teaching aids, excursions, presentations and a company communications platform, the EVN youth and school website. One special offer for young people is comprised by "Young Energy" school parties at the Theiss power station.

evn collection

The evn collection was founded in 1995 and is administered by the "EVN Art Committee" , which consists of highly respected expert curators (Brigitte Huck, Georg Kargl, Paul Katzberger, Wolfgang Kos und Hans Ulrich Obrist). Three aspects form the main characteristics of the Collection:

  • Openness with regard to differing media and topics
  • A relationship to the present and an accompanying claim to quality
  • An international orientation

One special emphasis is on the communication of art, particularly among company employees, their families and other interested persons.

Sponsoring of hobby and top class sports

EVN Cup

The sponsorship of both hobby and top class sport is a traditional feature of EVN sponsoring. Indeed, an increasing number of initiatives have also assumed an event character.

At the end of August 2009, the 18th EVN Cup will be held at the Wachauring in Melk.

Employee involvement in social matters

Besides their professional activities, many EVN employees make a sizeable contribution to Lower Austrian society. Large numbers of the workforce are members of organisations such as the Red Cross and volunteer fire brigades. In the main, employees carry out these activities outside working hours. However, should extra free time be required, EVN does as much as possible as an employer to ensure that this can be fitted in through the flexitime scheme.
