Enhanced employee safety in Bulgaria and Macedonia
In addition to the standardisation and upgrading of protective equipment, a major focal point of the integration process involving the new subsidiaries in Bulgaria and Macedonia is raising awareness levels on the part of employees in terms of their personal attitudes to occupational safety.
A broad-based procurement programme has been launched and is being successively implemented for
- protective equipment
- 0.4 kV and 20 kV earthing and short circuit sets
- 20 kV insulation rods
- 20 kV voltage testers and
- insulated tools.
At the same time, business directives for safe and secure work have been drawn up which also incorporate national regulations.

A priority in EVN’s personnel training efforts is the
“Working with Voltage“ programme.
Approximately 570 employees have received training at the EVN Bulgaria Academy up until the end of September 2008.
In Macedonia, training will commence during the 2009 financial year. The creation of training ground and a work safety educational path are also planned for Macedonia.
Furthermore 54 first aid trainings were held in Bulgaria and 68 in Macedonia in the 2007/08 financial year.
