”Careers with Apprenticeships“ at EVN
The sound training of young people has a long tradition at EVN.
The main goal of apprenticeship training at EVN is to cover the future need for qualified specialists from within its own ranks. At the same time, it is also an expression of the company’s sense of responsibility to society.
As of September 1, 2011, a total of 9 new apprentices were able to commence training as electrical fitters at EVN Netz GmbH. At the end of the 2010/11 financial year, a total of 55 young people were receiving vocational training at EVN Netz GmbH.
In addition to the dual educational system consisting of vocational school and work in the company, the young people also attend supplementary courses and seminars which round off the training spectrum.
In order to promote interdisciplinary qualifications, EVN also supports employees who obtain double and multiple qualifications, such as gas and heat engineer apprenticeships. All in all, over 600 employees possess several qualifications, representing more than 40 percent of the total EVN Netz GmbH workforce.
Following the end of their training, the overwhelming majority of apprentices choose to remain in the company. Of the roughly 130 apprentices who have completed their training at EVN since September 1, 1999, more than 90 percent have continued their employment at EVN.
The integration into the company following the end of the apprenticeship takes place within the context of mixed age teams under the supervision of “young fitter mentors”. The young technicians are supported by experienced fellow employees in applying their know-how in day-to-day working.
A career with apprenticeship is possible at EVN at any time. Many top executives in the company started their employment at EVN as apprentices, and with the help of occupational training now hold leading positions in the company.
