Renewable energies
In order to offer a sustainable and secure energy supply in the long-term, EVN is increasingly seeking independence in respect to energy generation as well as the greatest possible use of renewable energies.
EVN’s responsibility for the environment is based on:
- Conservation of natural resources
- Efficiency improvements
- Minimisation of waste gas emissions
as well as the intensified use of renewable energy sources.
EVN plans to provide 50% of overall power production by renewable energy production until 2020.
Therefore EVN is going to build e.g. wind power plants in Lower Austria and Bulgaria.
In Albania EVN together with VERBUND AG builds a run-of-river hydroplant at river Ashta, another project at river Drin is in progress.
At river Arda in Bulgaria EVN will build a multi-level storage power station.
By this projects and future efforts EVN assures increasing own generation as well as the right balance between renewable energy production and thermal power stations.
