An attractive package of additional social benefits

EVN’s broad range of supplemental benefits is one more way in which the company strives to offer its attractive working conditions.

Supplementary health insurance
EVN offers supplementary health insurance to employees as a voluntary social benefit, based on a master agreement concluded with a prominent insurance company.

The supplementary health insurance provides optimal medical treatment for insured employees if necessary. It goes without saying that this offer is available on an equal basis to all personnel belonging to the employers paying contributions, irrespective of the employee’s age, gender and extent of employment.

At present, about 1,000 employees are taking advantage of this service.

Pension fund
Since September 1995, EVN has been offering the EVN pension fund to its staff as complementary retirement benefits to the statutory pension scheme. Accordingly, the company makes a substantial contribution to safeguarding the retirement income of its employees. In addition to the parent company EVN AG, eight other companies in the EVN Group are included in this pension plan.

The EVN pension fund is a contribution-oriented pension scheme, in which the amount of the future pension is derived from the annuity on employer and employee contributions up to the date of retirement.

Retirement benefits were deliberately not transferred to a multi-employer pension fund. Instead, a separate company pension fund was set up, ensuring the right of employees to participate in the decision-making process via their representatives.

All bodies working for the pension fund EVN Pensionskasse perform their work free of charge. This ensures that staff contributions are not burdened with additional administrative costs.

As at December 31, 2007 EVN Pensionskasse was comprised of 2,078 future beneficiaries and 423 people entitled to retirement benefits. The total volume of ongoing employer and employee contributions amounts to approximately EUR 5.9m.

In Bulgaria, a voluntary pension fund for every employee was concluded with the approval of the local trade union.

Further benefits
For example, employees in Maria Enzersdorf have the opportunity to purchase vouchers from the Works Council allowing cheaper shopping at Austrian chain stores, which has proven to be extremely popular.
